Don't Be Scared...

So we all know not everyone is a social butterfly or Mr. Popular, yet in my social interactions I have made some interesting observations or better yet insights. Let me share some with you. Isn’t funny when you meet a ton of awesome people in different settings in the most random ways. You know we do that grand phone exchange or as to date that Facebook/Twitter exchange after you had a good time with the people you met. This may have occurred through mutual friends or just randomly. After this exchange how many people do you really reach out to? I can attest to this scenario happening to me at least 3 times last year. One example: Reached out to hang with the ladies I met at a creative interns networking event only to hang out with only one of them.  Outcome: I have a homie from Texas and she will move to NYC after she graduates.  Second example:  Reached out to some cool people I met in Brooklyn. Outcome: I now have my “primo”, my awesome friend who is a Dominican Jew. Third example: I met some cool people in my friends end of the year get together. Outcome: Cool people who I interact with on twitter and also the chance to see awesome artists in their expressive journey.  So with all this exchange I have made some valuable connections. I have been told that I have an awesome personality. With that I have met tons of people in my brief lifetime, in all of my social interactions I have noticed what is meant to happen will happen. I have never exerted my friendship to anyone.  Yet I have learned all relationships take WORK, if you don’t want to talk to someone or do not like them, guess what rip up that number when that gal or dude gives you their contact info.  Life if rather humorous because some of the people I could not stand in my past has been great friends and allies later on. Also some people are just really busy, it doesn’t mean that they don’t like your energy. As we get older, social situations can get more awkward, Why? Well it’s assumed that you have your circle or “dream team”, sadly some people don’t have that… yet. Guys be yourself and if you feel like interacting with someone, then do it.  Fear is the worst in everything roaches, rats, debt, heights and yes social situations and forming connections. Don’t be scared! The world is your oyster…
