I have a major case of writer’s block as of late. I don’t know what to talk about yet the world speaks of so much to speak about. The shooting of young black men by the police. Riots. The crazy outbreak of Ebola in Africa. Or rather the viral videos of celebs throwing ice buckets on themselves. What I’m trying to say is that there is too much to write and I’m feeling overwhelmed. Some writer’s block. The state of this country or rather the world. Yet this young writer from Brooklyn can only blog about writer’s block. The irony of it all.

I believe the notion of having a hobby has been lost. People believe browsing Facebook uncontrollably as a hobby. That is just wasting precious time. Invest in a good book. Maybe collect some vinyl and listen to some classics. Write some poetry or blog. You can play an instrument. Sketch. Volunteer. Go out on a date. Movies. Make the world your oyster. Live. Create. Master.

This is the question I pose and the answer is NO! However we live in a culture, which makes these figures saturated. Why such an obsession? Entertainers in this country are revered too much in America. We need to give our accolades to the doctors, nurses, firefighters, teachers, clergy and other prominent members of society. I’m tired of hearing who Khloe K is dating as if it is more important than the world news happening as I write this post. We need to wake up out this entertainment bubble and like I said in a previous post it is show business and not real life.

I must admit I’m a flirt. Is that a good thing for a female? probably or probably not. Being playful and coy has it’s perks but makes the whole dating thing so freaking confusing. I must admit it I do it online and in person. I got no shame in my game. Yes I’m single. Will I give up my flirty ways? I don’t know but it makes me have stories to tell my future grandchildren.

Can women be taken seriously in anything in comparison to men? It seems like in different sectors of life women seem to be the laughable gender. I’m definitely drawing this from my personal experiences. Hence the name of my blog. Anyway I have a couple of stories of what I have to share to emphasize my strong opinion. This man that I will call Fred wanted me to do publicity for him, while having a conversation out of nowhere he says you have a nice voice. Were you concentrating on my plan to promote or my “nice” voice? Apparently I was not taken seriously. Another experience I call this person to congratulate him on finding a residency as a new doctor and he asks me if I’m interested in the medical field, knowing that I went to Baruch a business school. What! Somebody’s off and it is not me. I was not taken seriously. To the men reading this take women more seriously. Let’s bring back intellect in conversations again. Peace I’m out!
