Health Confusion

Health is wealth. We need to take care ourselves. However gaining health advice especially alternative health has been rather confusing. A lot of people are turning to natural health and vegan lifestyles. There is a vast array of information out there especially on social media.  I have heard that certain vegetables are not natural or that consuming apple cider vinegar is detrimental to your health. Who are we supposed to believe? There are some self-proclaimed health gurus out there sharing their knowledge on Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube. It is important to research but why is the information so conflicting? What are we supposed to do if we are trying to improve our health? These are the questions I say to myself as I consume this health information. I have to come to the conclusion that you know your body the best and do what is best for you. It is a trial and error process. We need to be empowered by knowing our own bodies.

Celibacy. This word brings a lot of thoughts. You can choose this lifestyle for a myriad of reasons. It can complicate relationships or bring two people together. The decision to abstain from sexual activity is a personal choice. No one is better than the next person for this decision. However it can be beneficial to someone who decides to be celibate. If you are considering become celibate do it for yourself and do it for the reasons that align with your own values. What do you think of people who choose this lifestyle? Would you consider celibacy? Do you think it complicates relationships? Do you think it strengthens relationships?

Destination Syndrome

Life is a journey, not a destination. However, a lot of us are stuck with destination syndrome. We feel like if we have not arrived a certain goal or position in life we feel empty. This is an issue. How do we fix this? To be honest the answer is long and complicated. I am not qualified to answer this in a professional sense. Yet I believe if we remember that everything is a process and enjoy the ride to the goal or destination we will be better off. We can learn from our lives and all that we endure. Growth is part of the plan. We cannot think to be somewhere or get something will make us happy. You will always feel empty. Why do you think some people suffer from destination syndrome? Do you think social media and our microwave society attributes to this feeling?

Do It For The Gram

Instagram is my favorite social media platform. It is very simple but makes its impact. Instagram is very entertaining. We have people who you may follow on Instagram who like to stunt on the platform. Everyone seems to be an entrepreneur or a model. What is the deal with these IG models? Do you really have modeling contract or you just showing off? People love to show off and present a different lifestyle on this social media app. Why do you think people lie on Instagram? Do you think this trend will ever end? Do you stunt for the gram?

Colorism is a prominent problem in my community. It stems from slavery and still influences the Black community today. The media feeds into this problem. I have an issue with urban music videos including the HMI. Why most of the time the female lead is a fairer skin woman? This seems to be the standard for most music videos. It is rather annoying. Beauty comes in many shades. We need to make a change. The music artists must start including all shades of black women in their music visuals. I do respect the musicians that show variety in their music videos. Nonetheless Black is beautiful.
